The weather today is very foggy and rainy. Celine went to New York
Yesterday was a more cheerful day. We had a special dining room at the U. States Chemists Club, where I met many dear old friends, which I had not met since many years. All seemed cheerful and most

friendly to me. - Many I had not seen for many years and neither has they met me during that period.

George's wife [[strikethrough]] I [[/strikethrough]] is seriously ill and will require an operation. George has scand luck with his wives. One was healthy but unpleasant in airs and behavior. This one, who accompanied George in his trip in Air-plane 2 years ago and had pleasant manners and was a help to George, is now seriously [[strikethrough]] ail [[/strikethrough]] ill and may have to undergo a dangerous operation.

I met Rafferti yesterday at dinner and had a very pleasant conversation with him. - He seems to be the right man for our Bakelite Union Carbide enterprise.
He has been appointed as President of Bakelite Corporation
