My friend Prof. Bogard ^[[of Columbia]] who was present was not much inspired towards the project, and the meeting finally stopped as nobody, except Haynes, felt no inclination for the subject.

[[underlined]] Friday [[/underlined]] October 23. - 1942 Yesterday evening I was at the annual meeting of the "Institute of International Education", at 2 West 45 street". I met many friends there, when supper was served. In the mean time Dr. Stephen Duggan, was reading us the reports from since last year until today Questions and answers and statements on various subjects by Duggan. - It was about eleven by the clock, when we finally stop the meeting. Dick drove me homeward thrugh the many dark streets; until finally at about 1 P.M. I reached home.
