   Took 911 train for Washington & put in afternoon at the office arriving at noon Rested in evening & wrote letters

   Made budgets - to capital hill where I saw Walter & Mrs Pierce, Callahan - Jimmie Mott's sec. and Fred Steiner. Back to hotel & wrote letters all evening. 
Mar 18, 1933
   To office in A.M. [[strikethrough]] fr [[/strikthrough]] to museum to see the Thayer's Gulls from Cambridge. None like [[Jewett's?]] birds but some like my adult from the Columbia River. In afternoon the entire bunch came to hotel to say good bye x [[strikethrough]] Is a [[/strikethrough]] evening packed wrote letters.

   Left Washington 900 AM stopping at Falls Church where we picked up Laythes and drove until 900 PM to make Wilmington N.C. Our road took us thru the pine barrens and we missed the better developed part of N.C. We traveled thru Fredricksburg, Richmond & Petersburg over historic ground which I'd like to see more leisurely but this is a darned big country. several thunder showers flirting around the horizon. Wilmington old & dirty town of about 30,000 where they blow out the lights & take in the sidewalks before 900 PM.
