[[underlined]] Blue Jays, Crows [[/underlined]] very small and a number of [[underlined]] swallows [[/underlined]]. After our arrival in Jacksonville we drifted over to St Augustine. We visited this fountain of youth - where Ponce de Leon is supposed to have first set foot on the continent. a sharp witted - pimply faced blond escorted us about the grounds. she was glib in her story very careful not to make any definite statements while at the same time seeking to leave definite impressions. Cost 40¢ for admission to grounds & 25¢ for a folder. a sucker proposition.
We then visited a school house - supposedly which is the oldest in the US. Another girl - a shapely brunette with bear grease on her boyish bob & hard eyes escorted us around & gave us an opportunity to purchase souvenirs at quadruply hiked prices. we then visited old Fort Marion - It was extremely interesting to go over the old fort & see the masonry work on this ancient fortification Dinner & back to Jacksonville to bed.

Repaired a puncture tire sustained last night & got off to a bad start about 900 AM. due to detours out of town. a beautiful road after we started. Northern Florida is mostly flat pine land but we found a few hills around Tallahassee which is a pretty little town. we saw several pretty girls here the first of these "southern belles" that we have spied yet. say my first [[aukuig?]] near
