Lv Del Rio 6:30 AM and arrive El Paso 600 P.M. Had three [[underlined]] harris hawks [[/underlined]] to skin & did it roughly immediately. Then over to Juarez with Laythe's, the Hicherson's & Gilchrist where we had dinner in one of the cabarets. Rather tame affair. Returned to room at 1100 PM and finished Hawks as well at two [[underlined]] lark buntings [[/underlined]] and an unknown [[underlined]] Cassius [[/underlined]] sparrow of sea side sparrow type. Saw my first [[underlined]] Pyrrhuloxias [[/underlined]] and saw flocks of [[underlined]] lark buntings [[/underlined]] in the curious speckled plumage a beautiful bird country around Dryden intrigued my interest but I didn't get to stop any there.

Left El Paso about 1000 AM after fixing flat tire & sorting out junk of the parties Said good bye to Laythe until next year & Don & I started on. Stopped in Las Cruces to visit Dr. Harry Hent Pres. of State Ag College who proved to be a regular fellow & one who was very friendly to us. There on into Las Cruces to fix another flat & eat lunch. We went into the restaurant & there sat John Gatlin. New Mexico leader. While we were eating Laythe & his wife came in and we had quite a discussion.
