with a mid winter dress of snow. Very beautiful but the dazzling light gave me quite a headache. Arrived in Sacto + had lunch with Jake. Interview with Brock the new commissioner of Ag. + also with George Tonkin + Cap. Carpenter.

April 12, 1933
Visited Bob Wilson, Jake + the office + left about 9.30 AM for Redding. Accompanied by Carpenter + [[?]] him to Colusa + Maxwell. From there to Redding where I met Keyes & Heusen for conference on President's Reforestation programs. Also met ChasLove Game Warden at Redding & had a nice visit.
April 13 1933
Left Redding 700 AM with Keyes to Cottonwood & then returned to Redding while Keyes went on to Sacto. Met Love, Ray Jackson ([[Fleckner's?]] step son]] and numerous others also called on Dudley Saelzer but he was out of town. Left Redding at 230 PM & drove to Weaverville with Clara & Mrs. Berry arriving 600 pm
April 14, 1933
Left Weaverville 800 am & down the river to Arcata & there up to Patrick Creek at 630 pm.
Saw a wonderful display of Delphiniums nudicaule also found a few D. [[mergresie?]] on a south talus slope. Red bud was in bloom & beautiful. Also found Scoliopus biglovii, Erythronium [[revolution?]] [[Rugicula?]] vulgaris etc. Also Azalea occidentalis, Viola ocellata, Ceanothus thrysiflorus
