Get laundry together & then to office for work on mail. [[illegible]] spent the day there and in evening to University.  The birds are in terrible shape but there is a Marbled Godwit - a Saw Whet Owl and a Pygmy Owl all locally taken according to Prof Brown.  No data
Elmer Bourne came to house in evening. He is an enthusiastic Beginner on Birds

Aug 22, 1933
To office & cared for mail.  Left at 10.00 AM for Mono Forest.  Stopped for a while on Pine Nut Range and also on the mountain above Virginia City, the old mining town on the Comstock Lode.
Saw very few Birds.

Inspected Pickel Meadows poisoned in June & found perfect kill.  Sheep man said he hadn't seen a squirrel this summer.  Old holes caving in. Some oat hulls left.  On to Liggett Meadows ~ private holding as yet unpoisoned.  Beldings squirrel abundant  No birds here to speak of.  Made camp at 4:45 in yellow pine grove.
