Left Johnson Canyon 930 AM. Saw a herd of 25 elk - cows calves & 1 young bull herded around by an old bull who gradually shoed them into a thicket. Two other bulls hanging around paid little attention to us. Already sparring for beginning of rut.
On into Marble Canyon taking a few photos along the was. Identified the common aster we found as [[underline]] Aster McCollae [[/underline]] and also found a few Pentstemon confertus [[/underline]] in bloom at McClouds Meadows where we had lunch. Again impressed with abundance of Dasiphora fruticosa & Sax bronchialis
Continued on down the road to camp at Green bay tourist camp, a beautiful spot but cabins [[?]] & not up to standard can't say much for the accomodations we've had in Canada. Camps poor badly furnished except Johnson Canyon & we couldn't get a cabin at all there
Sept. 5, 1933
[[overstrike]] Lv. Johnson's Canyon at [[?]] AM and travel thru Kootenai Park. Found [[underline]] Pentstemon confertus in abundance at McCleod meadows where we stopped for lunch also - [[underline]] Dasiphera fruticosa [[/underline]] with a goodly sprinkling of bloom still present. Took it easy eating dinner in Cranbrook BC & camping on Moie Lake [[/overstrike]]
