Jewett still laid up. I tramped over more of Grouse creek area alone & saw about the same as above in birds. Rained during the night and much new sign of gopher activity.

With Cresnian Dist Attorney over North fork of Grouse creek. Saw usual birds but continued gopher activity. Jewett still unable to walk [[Saptich?]] went with Rodgers to Lick Co in car 
Sept 23, 1933
To Gumboot Area with Jewett Rodgers & Crissman. Gopher sign & work everywhere. Birds about the same. Saw three deer from the car a forked horn & two does. Birds still plentiful in currant patch in evening before it started to rain again
