Left Mohave 8:00 AM arr Sacramento 11:30 PM. went via general Grant Park. It was only 30 miles or so out of the way but what crooked narrow miles of road they were. Clara June was plum disgusted so much so that she didn't to much enjoy it. Trees are numerous but not particularly beautiful. Terribly tired when we arrived in Sacto.

Conferences with Poole, Keyes, Jacobsen & staff and then on our way at 1:30 PM. Clara June slept until noon so she is rested. My cold is bothering some & indigestion more arrived at Ukiah 7:00 PM feeling rotten - Skinned one [[underlined]] horned lark [[/underlined]] and also made up a [[underlined]] dark colored hawk [[/underlined]] I found dead along the road on Tehachapi pass yesterday. Had another one skinned out but felt too rotten to make it up. May finish peeling it & salt it tomorrow night if nothing better offers.

Left Ukiah at 8:00 AM and arrived at camp above Crescent City Cal at 8:00 PM. Pleasant day for drive as we saw only one or two patches of fog. Shot a [[underlined]] Pygmy Owl [[/underlined]] on the way in.

Cold & foggy with frost on the ground. Left camp at 8:00 AM. hunted for a few [[Darlingtoneas?]] & then to Brookings where I checked up on the proposed bird reservation and drove in the Gardener Oregon arriving 8:00 PM.

Left Gardener Ore 800 AM arr Portland 7:00 PM beautiful day & I stopped at the Lake to see the place. Everything ok. there. saw Braley for few minutes.
