Up early & out to place decoys with Wells while Mr. Carter prepared breakfast. We were in the blinds by daylight but ducks were scarce, The entire crowd secured 14 birds all mallards & green winged teal and in addition two wood ducks which I took for specimens. We quit shooting at 300 pm & pulled for home arriving at the dock just at dark. Gulls were exceedingly abundant on the river and a hugh flock of crows were gathering on the west end of Government island.
