april 4, 1934 All day thru Nebraska. The North Platte dotluras [[?]]] were well populated with great flocks of geese-mostly snow geese tho there were a few dark bunches including a [[strikethrugh]]]snow[[/strikethrough]] blue geese close to track. Also saw lots of China Pheasants & a few Mallards Met Mr. & Mrs. [[strikethrough]] Pousley [[/strikethrough]] Buckley from Providence R.I. who seemed very nice. & visited all day with them. Foggy most of day. April 5, 1934 Woke this morning in bright sunshine and wrote stuff for the Garden Dictionary of Houghton Mifflin. Lazy day & hard to work especially as a nice old lady across the aisle persisted in talking to me. April 6, 1934 Home at last after what seemed the longest exile on record. Clara met me at the train & the kids seemed wild to see me. Weather lovely and Portland never looked better in her early spring dress. Went home for a bath & general clean up after the dust & dirt of the trip & to office in afternoon. S talked at Audubon Society in evening. April 7, 1934 In office in morning & took Clara & the kids to picture show in the P.M. Picture was not much good. To nursery in evening to see John. April 8, 1934 To church in morning with Clara & the kids & in afternoon to Multnomah falls for photos for articles. Stop at folks on way home.
