A most hectic day. Drove early to Tule Lake where we found Worcester. Visited with him A new [[underline]] Avocet [[/underline]] & [[underline]] Black necked Stilt [[/underline]] colony. Found rising water flooding nests & fixed holes in dikes. Then to [[underline]] Pelican [[/underline]] colony at Clear Lake. Found a huge colony on a rocky point (Worcester counted [[underline]] 2100 nests [[/underline]] a few days ago). Others on another point (30) and a lot perhaps 1500 pair on two rocky islands off shore. Approx 3500 pair altogether. Yg hatched & lots of eggs particularly in one section where new eggs were laid by pairs broken up. Some dead young but no unusual mortality. Took a lot of photos.
Punched hole in crank case on rock. Worcester made emergency repairs & we proceeded to [[underline]] Gull colony [[/underline]] where a [[underline]] lot of Ring billed & a few California Gulls [[/underline]] are nesting

Transcription Notes:
Yg perhaps is short for Young.
