May 31, 1934 cont.
Thence to Pauling Lake where we camped for the night. Saw a male & two female [[underline]] Barrow's Goldeneyes [[/underline]]. Was out in a boat & within 20 feet  of them several times. [[underline]] Males & ^ [[insert]] one [[/insert]] female  [[/underline]] in flight evolutions. Cold & snowing
June 1, 1934.
Had to change a tire & a devil of a time starting car. Snowed & regular blizzard across Mackenzie Pass and had a cold bleak ride to Portland arriving at 630 PM. Made up two birds in evening.

In office in morning & out to nursery in PM Nothing particularly exciting

At home all day working on lawn & flowers & writing a little.
June 4, 1934
At office all day working on the Birds of Oregon & mail. Also reports on ducks for chief.

Lv. Portland at 800 AM & drive to Pomeroy Wash arriving there at 800PM. Went via Goldendale & Horse Heaven. Saw dang few birds except a [[underline]] Red eyed Vireo [[/underline]] past of Lyle Wash. BA Thaxter along

Left Pomeroy at 800 AM with Thaxter, Couch & Conners. Visited fire school at CLearwater Ranger Station. Visited John Irwin Supervisor, Kenworthy Ranger & others
