 At McKay Creek reservoir and spend morning with Dobyns going over ground.  Saw several [[underline]] hundred geese, [[/underline]] & about a [[underline]] thousand mallards[[/underline]] together with a sprinkling of other birds.  Stopped in Pendletin on return to see Mac Hoke & Walter Holt then to Yakima stopping for an hour at Kiona to see Decher. at Yakima in evening with Tom Drumheller,  Harry Embach etc.

 At woolgrower meeting & conference with Rasmussen, Conners, Finley. also at meeting Lunch with Dr. Lynch.
June 18, 1935
 To Topperrush Creek area with Lynch etc and then return to Yakima to speak at Woolgrowers Meeting.  In evening to Banquet.

Leave Yakima in a howling blizzard and drive to Portland with Couch.  Had a funny thing happen at edge of Yakima Valley a [[underline]] Brewer's Blackbird [[/underline]]] male was teetering rather uncertainly on a weed beside the road.  Either he was half frozen (6 above with a howling wind) or had been struck by another car as he did not act normal. I was driving very slow-not over 15 M.P.H. as the pavement was glassy with ice. As I came up the bird teetered for a minute took wing-mounted a few feet & then either lost control or deliberately dove into the
