we crossed Shenandoah Mt again stopping to go up Ramseys Draft to a beautiful stand of Hemlock, White Oak, Tulip & Red Oak.  Saw a number of trout in this stream which is nicknamed draft.  Saw nutchellia repeus with lots of berries & found considerably more willow.  Saw following in bloom today, Amelaudlier, Maple (Red flowered), Willow, Cottonwood, Witch hazel, Spice bush  [[underline]] Pieris [[/underline]] (andromeda) [[underline]] florebunda, [[/underline]], Hepatica, Trailing Arbutus, Sanguinica Canadensis, Housatonia or Bluets and a yellow Violet.  None plentiful except Spice bush (full bloom), witch hazel past its best & Pieris becoming quite stony.
  Birds were scarce in the timber and only Robins, Pronged grackles, Starlings & Bluebirds common elsewhere.  Forsythia & Narcissus in bloom in Harrisonburg.
