Scarcity of fruits - some Rubus, some pin cherry & some amalanchier. no crataegus Saw one bush of Rhododendron maximum & Mr. Newton says plentiful around edges ^ [[insert]] of lakes [[/insert]] Think a special effort should be made to spare any fruit bearing shrub or tree in this county as there is a scarcity of this material. a few cedar trees in swamps. Browse quite plentiful & lacking use Left 3:30 PM & went to Laconia via Tranconia notch where I saw the great Stone face. Beautiful drive thru the edge of the White mts & on down to Laconia arrived 6:30 PM & had conference with Supervisor M.A Mattoon in evening.

F. E. Fuller Staff asst Forest Management. came to room & will accompany us on the White Mt Forest I worked in room all morning on mail & visited with Miller in the afternoon until 4:00 PM when he, Gross, & myself left for Gorham where we arrived at 6:30 PM. Dinner & visit with Miller in evening
April 22, 1035.
Left Hotel at 8:00 AM with Gross, Miller & Fuller & proceeded to north unit of White Mt Nat Forest on upper Ammonoosuc River. We left the car and hiked four miles with this crowd & Joe Pepper a warden in state service who patrols the refuge there. (for four months without pay). This is the best piece of game country I've seen in NE. yet. It was burned heavily in 1903 &
