raining cats + dogs also pitchforks + nigger babies. I've finally decided to go back + started at 9 00 am via Ocean City etc + arrived in Washington 6 00 pm just in time for dinner with Clara + kids

Worked like merry hades in office all day. Clearing up my desk. Met Bill Rush + talked over regional jobs

same as above but went on hill to see Pierce. Found him adamant in his opposition to our omnibus bill. worked in various matters in office all day. Lots of odd jobs.
