proof enclosure which was a striking example of overgrazing. Inside corral sassafras suckers, oak seedlings - pine senecio [[?]], clover etc very luxuriant and outside nothing. [[strikethrough]] Left Ash [[/strikethrough]] Very beautiful country - rough & rugged. Left Ashville 500 PM.
May 29, 1935.
Arrived Washington 700 AM after an even dirtier train ride. Bathed & to the office & worked like the deuce all day. in office in C.CC. work & regular division work. Conference Mr. Darling until 1000 PM
May 30, 1935.
Decoration day. rained hard in AM & worked at home on various things & took kids to Great Falls in afternoon. Worked on Birds of Oregon in evening.
