Col. Thompson and he gave us a pass across Twiga road which is not yet open to the public.  It was lovely all the way. Coming into Yosemite a godetia and the Col. Buckeye put on the first show. Eriodictin present in patches  Saw a few Colochortus venustus above Yosemite Pentsleum [[strikethrough]] blue [[/strikethrough]]berryi was in bloom in rocks. in various places. Mountan misery very abundant & in bloom  Saw a few azaleas.  Iris hartivegii a beauty with narrow crinkled falls. lavender & yellow Found Viola purpieres common likewise Phlox [[underline]] diffusa [[/underline]] and at Tioga alpine buttercup in abundance.  Caltha biflora covered ground for acres.  Dodocatheon jeffryi had largest & richest flowers I ever saw & Phyllodoce breweri is darker & has much larger flowers than the Oregon forms.  Found a compact little yellow Erigonanium about Tioga.  Heard [[underline]] Fox Sparrows, [[/underline]], Hermit Thrushes & Western Wood Pewees at Tioga.  Found a bridge out just below the park and had to hang up for night at Log Cabin Proprietor of a little resort showed up yesterday or we would have been out of luck.
Holed up at about 9000 feet & C.J got supper out of tin cans.  arrived at cabins at about 5 00 PM. Bridge foreman promised to build temporary structure and let us across first thing in morning.
