Sept 6, 1935 Left East Orange at 8.00AM and arrived at Washington at 4.00PM with Clara & the kids. Worked on birds of Oregon. Sept 7, 1935. In office in morning. Came home in P.M. & cleaned up yard. Too wet to spade so worked on Birds of Oregon & finished comparing the manuscript. Sept 8, 1935 Loafed all morning & worked in basement cataloguing birds & rearranging big cabinets. To Cox's for dinner where we had a lovely meal. Sept 9, 1935 In office all day clearing desk & worked late. Cleaned up room & worked over some birds. Sept 10, 1935. Acting chief today & a very busy day. Worked hard & accomplished little. Did get the Maine agreements worked up, & some other things settled. Leichhardts over in evening & didn't get the work done that I planned. Sept 11, 1935. Very busy day at the office doing a million little things. Cleared my desk, got memos out to field officers on two different subjects, worked up Connecticut agreements. Finished checks on missing stuff in Oregon birds & send fellow to get measurements on some. Came home half an hour early and got a hair cut much needed & worked on musk ox story in evening.
