May 20, 1936
Met at Cleveland by Jansen and a delegation of duck shooters. Spent the entire day looking at duck marshes and being told about their very unusual situation. In evening we were given a fish fry and subjected to a bombardment of questions & demands.I think the radical members of the crowd were very disappointed we left at 1100PM & visited with Fred Brint & Jansen until 1.28 AM when I took a train to Chicago.
May 21, 1936.
Arr Chicago 700AM. Visited with Ann Newman & Barry Locke in Chicago. Spoke at Illnois Conservation Council meeting and was help there until 300PM by questions. Tired as hell. Went up to Tap Gregory's office. & then Tonkin, Steve Gregory went out to his place. Looked at his bird collection and enjoyed it very much. good nights sleep.
May 22, 1936
Left at 800AM with Tonkin & went to Rockford. Visited Harold Clark & his wife. Stopped to see Mrs White but she was in Detroit. On to Moline where I dictated some letters & then to West Liberty. Spent night with Grace & Allen.
May 23, 1936
Leave at 800AM and lunch with Ding. visit with he & Garrett Garrett Then to Ames at 610. Conference with Prof Drake, Bennett, Henducham, & Rush until far into the night (over)
