   & talked at Noon to the Canadian Club of Montreal. Then at 3:40 took a train to Ottawa at 7:40 PM. Had dinner & then met R.M. Anderson & spent the evening

   Talked to the game conference in AM & sat in the afternoon to listen.  To Anderson's for dinner in evening & had a fine time.
Jan 6, 1937
   To conference in AM & up to 3:40 PM when I left with Anderson to go up Gatineau river.  It was snowy & slippery but we made it from Gracefield out to 31 mile lake without discomfort at 9:00 PM

   Tramped over the hills about lake & along the shore. It was hard going because so slippery.  Saw darned few birds. Nothing but [[underlined]] chickadees [[/underlined]] & a [[underlined]] Hairy Woodpecker [[/underlined]]

   Repetition of yesterday except saw one [[underlined]] Nuthatch [[/underlined]] & heard one [[underlined]] Pileated Woodpecker [[/underlined]]. Raining & sleeting making footing impossible. Glad to get [[in?]] to Gracefield into hotel at 4:00 PM

   Left Gracefield 8:57 AM arr Ottawa 11:00 AM.  Saw Hayes Lloyd-Munro - etc & then back to train where I caught at 4:30 PM.

   Arrive Washington 1:00 PM & went home with Clara. Tired out.
