   Don't know what conference will do with it but have tried everything possible to hold the [[strikethrough]] ir [[/strikethrough]] bill as house wrote it.
May 19, 1937.
   Worked over Dieffinbachs staff with Dillon & Henderson and also Regional staff.  A very busy day & one that was very tiring.
May 20, 1937.
   In office all day getting cleaned up with Henderson on several matters in the morning.  Can't get rested.  Tis the first time in my life I wake up tired every morning.  Secretary told me that Silcox had had a heart attack while on a field trip.  Thats the third Bureau Chief in a little over a year to go the same way.  Knight, McCrory & now Silcox.  Went out to Beltsville with [[Lincoln?]] & slept on cots in Snowden Hall.  At least twenty whip poor wills heard calling.
May 21, 1937.
   Up at 4:00 AM.  Cooked breakfast & went over to woodland hunting birds  An amazing warbler migration still present as well as other birds.  A chimney swift got down into the house about 2:00 AM and made an amazing amount of noise before getting out.  After 10:00 we went down to Morleys & looked with him over fence trouble, lake site etc. and home about 4:00 PM.
