Sept 18, 1937
zoo to the small mammal house to observe the small nocturnal mammals.  Kangaroo rats & mice, pygmy nice, wood rats, Microtus, Peragnathus, etc were very active & we spent a most interesting evening, returning home completely tired out at 11.30PM

Sept 19, 1937
Up at 7.30 dressed, got ready & went out to Archers place with Couches for a picnic breakfast.  Had a nice breakfast & dinner, laid around the woods all day & visited with Leo & came home at 5.00PM much refreshed.  Sat down & dictated letters, worked over the article for the Southern Planting and dictated rough draft of plant breeding article for Country Gentlemans.  Kids start back to school tomorrow.

Sept 20, 1937
All regional men except Bert Smith reported for duty at 9.00AM.  Had a very strenuous day and was tired out when 5.00PM came & I went to the Club for a workout.

Sept 21, 1937.
In office this morning & had a fine conference with the men.  Saw Senator Tydings and heard his plea for a special season for Susquehanna Flats.  Came back & conferred with the gang and had them all out for dinner evening.  Clara did a swell job of putting on a feed & party & I believe all had a good time.
