May 28, 1939.
Left 5.00AM for Mattamuskeet and arrived there 8.00AM.  Spent moring with Johnson going over area.  The stuff looks good.  More feed than last year, had a good look at an accidental burn & the consequent fine growth of 32 years.  Jim & I drove to Washington arriving about 9.00PM.

May 29, 1939.
In office and had a most hectic day going over many things with Henderson & others.

May 30, 1939.
Holiday.  Stayed home in morning & out to Beltsville in PM.  Picnic.

May 31, 1939
In office.  One of the worst days I've ever had in office.  Nothing very wrong[[?]] but dozens of little things from all directions at once.

June 1, 1939
A duplication of yesterday.  One of the worst days since I had this job.

June 2, 1939.
Lv at 9.00AM for Washington arrive there at 10.45.  Met by Ted Doremus & Fred Walcott.  Took them and the directors of Remington Arno[[?]] over Bombay Hook and told them about the program, both the Camp Supt and Henholt did good job of selling their work.
