Being Sunday they stopped at Little Hunting Creek. Potomac clays and sands were visible in several of the cuts on the way down. There is a deep cut half a mile north of the gate into the grounds, and here there is no Potomac, but there are 5 or 6 feet of marine deposits, Chesapeake clays above and apparently Pamunkey Greensand below.
