A dull day, cold - to - mild, in places, no sun at all.
Magherabeg, Co. WI. (dunes N. of river & Ardmore Pt.)
Practically everything taken on dunes!
All three of Halbert's rare bugs taken! Therapha [[big?]] the only one not common.
Meadow Brown & Speckled Wood & Common Blue seen.
[[underlined]] Bombus agrorum [[/underlined]] dead [[2 female symbols]], & some living workers (also [[2 virgin female symbols]] seen at Mayfield, Du., Ballyhenry & "Merton", WI.)
[[underlined]] B. hortorum [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] seen.
[[underlined]] B. agrorum [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]] & [[2 virgin female symbols]] seen. [[underlined]] B. lapidarius [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] seen.
[[underlined]] Andrena [[servica?]] [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]], quite fresh, many seen on [[underlined]] Euphorbia portlandicus [[/underlined]]
[[underlined]] Colletus picistigma [[/underlined]] [[insertion]] ^ fresh [[/insertion]] [[2 male symbols]] on [[underlined]] Oenanthe crocata [[/underlined]] & [[underlined]] Euph. portlandica [[/underlined]]
[[underlined]] Crabro wesmaeli [[/underlined]] [[2 male symbols]] & [[2 female symbols]] common.
[[underlined]] C. peltarius [[/underlined]] [[2 male symbols]] on usual sycame tree in dunes.
Ceropalus maculatus [[2 male symbols]] & [[2 female symbols]]. On Euphorbia flowers &c.
[[underlined]] Pompilus plumbeus [[/underlined]] [[2 male symbols]] & [[female symbol]] seen on sand.
[[underlined]] Vespa sylvestris [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] seen on [[underlined]] Scrophularia nodosa [[/underlined]] 
[[underlined]] Athalia lineolata [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]]. [[checkmark]] [[underlined]] RCLP [[/underlined]].

29th June 1927. The day of total eclipse of the sun! Rained all night & except for a partial clear spell, 10 - 12 Noon, all or almost all day.
In forenoon, I walked across Kynock's, dunes, Arklow, & took 1 [[male symbol]] & 1 [[female symbol]], both very fresh, [[underlined]] Megachile maritima [[/underlined]] "sunning" outside their burrows : the specimens were not taken together but at some distance apart. Saw also 1 dead female [[underlined]] Bombus lapidarius [[/underlined]] &  took 1 [[female symbol]] [[underlined]] Vespa austriaea [[/underlnied]] at gate of "Merton".

30th June 1927. Drenching rain with N.E. wind all day till 5 pm. After tea I went to glen of Webb's River, Ferrybank, where I saw or took 
[[underlined]] Bombus lucorum [[/underlined]] [[2 virgin female symbols]] & [[underlined]] B. agrorum [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]] & [[2 virgin female symbols]].
Vespa sp.? 1 [[virgin female symbols]] at log. (? [[underlined]] vulgaris [[/underlined]] or [[underlined]] sylvestris [[/underlined]]
Tenthredella livida [[2 male symbols]] & [[2 female symbols]]. [[checkmark]] RCLP. [[underlined]] Athalis lineolata [[/underlined]]
