2nd July 1927. A dull misty day with no sun & wind from SE rising & rain in evening.
E. slope of Arklow Rock & S. Strand, Co. WI.
[[underlined]] Bombus lucorum [[/underlined]] [[2 virgin female symbols]] at Jasione; here full in bloom!
[[underlined] B. agrorum [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]] [[underlined]] B. muscorum [[/underlined]] 1 [[virgin female symbol]] seen on Jasione on dunes.
[[underlined]] Colletes montanus [[/underlined]] 3 [[2 male symbols]] sleeping on Jasione on summit of cliffs facing Arkintinny.
[[underlined]] Myrmica ruginodis [[/underlined]] [[2 virgin female symbols]] in dunes & 1 [[virgin female symbol]] of [[underlined]] M. schencki [[/underlined]] [[strikethrough]] ? [[/strikethrough]] [[checkmark]] in same place, i.e. dunes not far N. of old quarry & old road. 
Ichneumonidae: in marsh on dunes & on Wild Carrot & nettles on old road & cliffs.

4th July 1927. Gale & rain continued; but in aft. it began to clear & no rain fell & then was some sunshine : very warm & many flies!
Cleared woods, fields, railway &c between Ballyraine - Glenart & river, 1 mile W. of Arklow church, Co. WI.

About 15 other spp. almost all taken on Cow Parsnip in field between  main road & railway!

[[underlined]] Tenthredo arcuata, Tenthredella mesomelas, Athalia lineolata, [[/underlined]] all common [[underlined]] Strongylogaster lineata [[/underlined]], [[female symbol]] on Cow Parsnip.
[[insertion]] Black [[/insertion]] Larva on Birch by ry. cutting from which [[female symbol]] [[underlined]] Craesus latipes [[/underlined]] [[checkmark]] RCLP. bred on 16.8.27.
