Saw flies in dunes S. of river which looked size & colour of [[underlined]] Colletes cunicularis [[/underlined]]; but I dont know what it was! AWS. Honey bees seen at same place in 1929! AWS. Smyth; also called at Clone, WX (N. of Ennisworthy) but caught only one [[female symbol]] Cyniped & saw only [[underlined]] Bombus lucorum [[/underlined]]. [[underlined]] 6th April 1928 [[/underlined]]. Met E.K. Tratman of Bristol Spelaeological Society & drove to Cappagh, Co. WA., to B.G. Ussher's for lunch. In afternoon we explored various caves but I saw only several [[underlined]] Bombus lucorum [[/underlined]]. Then to Clonea, NE. of Dungarvan where stayed till 9th. [[underlined]] 7th April 1928 [[/underlined]]. Spent the day exploring caves between Dungarvan & Cappagh, WA. Saw a few [[underlined]] Bombus lucorum [[/underlined]] & very fresh [[male symbol]] & [[2 female symbols]] [[underlined]] Andrena gwynana [[/underlined]] in quarries near Cappagh. Also nests of [[underlined]] Lasius flavus [[/underlined]] & [[underlined]] L. niger [[/underlined]]; & one nest of [[underlined]] Myrmica [[strikethrough]] scabrinodis (?) [[/strikethrough]] laevinodis [[/underlined]] in [[insertion]] ^ Lower Canty [[/insertion]] quarry, [[insertion]] ^ SE [[/insertion]] of Ballynamintra, where human remains were discovered in caves by quarrymen some time before; in last nest there seemed nearly as many [[2 female symbols]] as workers & it was a very large colony under a flat slab in quarry. Heard several [[underlined]] Willow Wrens [[/underlined]] & saw Gt. Stitchwort, [[insertion]] ^ Viola Riviniana [[/underlined]], Bluebells & Cowslip in flower; also a Peacock Butterfly. A sunny day! [[underlined]] 8th. April 1928 [[/underlined]]. Drove to Fermoy & back: a dull day turning to rain. Saw [[underlined]] Sisymbrium alliaria [[/underlined]]; [[underlined]] Allium ursinum [[/underlined]], [[underlined]] Arum maculatum [[/underlined]] & [[underlined]] Veronica chamaedrys [[/underlined]] in flower
