22nd April 1928. A glorious morning after a frosty night & a cold week: turning dull at Clara after 12 oclock. 11 till 11:30 AM.  Quarry at Ballyhenry, WI. as usual.

[[underlined]] Halictus rubicundus [[/underlined]] & other, smaller, spp. seen.
[[underlined]] Nomada fabriciana [[/underlined]] 1 fine [[female symbol]] taken.

12 noon till 4 pm.  no sun after 1 pm.
[[underlined]] Bombus lucorum [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]]. [[underlined]] B. jonellus [[/underlined]] 1 [[virgin female symbol]] (worker!) on Vaccinium flowers.
[[underlined]] Andrena lapponica [[/underlined]] [[2 male symbols]] & [[2 female symbols]] abundant all along river in wood : [[2 female symbls]] very fresh.
No Nomada seen.

[[strikethrough]] 24 [[/strikethrough]] 25th April 1928. Plenty of Swifts about in the evening: seen the previous day by J. P. Brunker. 
27th. 28th. M.D.S. heard Corncrake during night!
27th April 1928. A [[male symbol]] [[underlined]] Trichiosoma [[/underlined]]   hatched from cocoon taken at Meeting of the Waters, Avoca, WI on 11th April, on [[insertion]] ^ top [[/insertion]] twig of small birch (4ft. high). 
25th April 1928 A [[female symbol]] [[underlined]] Phobocampa dubia [[/underlined]] Thom. hatched from cocoon taken on nettle (with larve of [[underlined]] Vanessa io [[/underlined]]) near Ballyarthur Gate, [[Asrea?]], WI, on 20th (?) July 1927.

29th April 1928. A fine sunny day! Went to Clara, WI, as before, but stopped for a few minutes by a marsh near Garryduff cross-roads, E. of Cronyburn where a few [[2 male symbols]] [[underlined]] Dolerus aeneus [[/underlined]] were taken.
