6th May 1928. A terrifically hot, sunny, day & the only clouds seen all day arrived to cover the sun during my halts! Drove to Athy & on to marsh full of ([[underlined]] Schoenus nigricans [[/underlined]] (not rushes!) near Ballylynan, Q. Co.; then to Stradbally, via Beauteogne, where old wood at the Hall seem splendid ground for July - Sept. collecting; then to Dunamace, where I worked the quarry beside the Maryborough Road; & home without stopping. A disappointing day!

The usual rushy marshes on rt. bank of Dodder above Mr. Doyle's. &c. With Miss Scott.
