11th July 1928. A very hot (moist) day with a great deal of sun; but a hot soft wind (almost a gale). 
Drove to Arklow, via Rathdrum, Co. WI, where I picked up Palmer & took him & Lisney on to Kilgorman, Co. WX, to see & photo. upright form of [[underlined]] Convolvulus soldanella [[/underlined]]
Spent 2 hours [[insertion]] ^ [[underlined]] Right bank of Avonmore [[/underlined]] [[/insertion]] at Avondale Footbridge, Rathdrum, WI. between 11 AM & 1 PM. Where I saw

[[underlined]] Andrena fucata [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] worn. [[underlined]] A.  coitana [[/underlined]] [[2 male symbols]] & [[2 female symbols]]. 
[[underlined]] A. minutula [[/underlined]] 2nd brood, [[2 female symbols]] seen? [[underlined]] Halictus albipes [[/underlined]] or [[underlined]] freygessneri [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]] seen. [[underlined]] H. rubicundus [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] 
[[underlined]] H. leucopus [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] seen. 
Sphecodes    [[female symbol]] on stump below bridge. 
[[underlined]] Nomada nuficornis [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]].
Vespa vulgaris [[2 virgin female symbols]] common
[[underlined]] Odynerus 3-farciatus [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]], nesting in hole in post at bridge gate.
[[underlined]] Megachile willughbiella [[/underlined]] 1 very fresh [[female symbol]] on foot bridge : intermediate var.
[[underlined]] Selandria stramineipes [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] [[checkmark]] RCLP.
[[underlined]] Sirex gigas [[/underlined]], small [[female symbol]] flying round stump.

[[underlined]] Ischnocereus filicornis [[/underlined]] large [[female symbol]] on elder bush at bridge.
Cryptid [[female symbol]] on large stump at bridge.

[[underlined]] Crabro capitosus [[/underlined]] 2 [[2 female symbols]] & others, seen nesting in pith of broken elder bush stems at gate on to footbridge.
[[underlined]] C. IV-maculatus [[/undelrined]] many small [[2 male symbols]], mostly black, on elder bush &c. at footbridge.
[[underlined]] C. varius [[/underlined]] at stumps & sand bank.
