[[underlined]] Tachysphex puncticeps [[/underlined]] 1 large, worn [[female symbol]] at 1. [[underlined]] Pompilus gibbus [[/underlined]] 2 [[2 female symbol]] (1 on dunes, 1 on wild carrot by bridge) [[abd?]]. [[underlined]] Chelonus inanitus [[/underlined]] common on carrot at 1. Lissonota bellator 1 [[male symbol]] at 2. [[underlined]] Lissonota basalis [[/underlined]] [[male symbol]] in motor at 4. [[underlined]] Ichneumon sarcitorius [[/underlined]] [[male symbol]] at 3. Cryptus [[female symbol]] at 3. Collected burrows in Ash at Cappaph P.O. where Crabro, small & black, was seen to enter on a previous occasion, but proved empty. [[line across page]] 21st August 1928. Drove home to Dublin: a dull day, warm, with misty rain & showers; very little sun. Left Dungarvan at 10 AM & drove to Cappagh. Left Cappagh at 11 AM & drove via [[Cormshingacre?]] to Carrick-on-Suir, but near Ballghest Cross Roads I had to stop to mend a puncture & while doing so I observed a small [[acaleat?]] on my coat which I bottled. To my amazement it proved on examination [[end page]] [[start page]] (227. 21.8.28 cont. when reached home, to be a [[female symbol]] [[underlined]] Crabro styrius [[/underlined]] - the 2nd specimen taken in Ireland. If ever a thing was "given" to one by providence this surely was! Then drove to Leighlin bridge, Co. Carlow, where stopped on Carlow road about a mile N. of bridge & beside R. Barrow. Here took :- [[underlined]] Vespa valgaris [[/underlined]] [[2 virgin female symbol]]. [[underlined]] V. rufa [[/underlined]] 1 [[male symbol]] [[underlined]] V. austriaca [[/underlined]] 1 [[male symbol]] seen. All in Angelica. [[underlined]] Bombus agrorum & lucorum [[/underlined]] 1 [[2 virgin female symbols]] only, seen. & a few spp of ichs [[underlined]] Glypta "longicauda" [[/udnerlined]], a very fine [[female symbol]] Then drove home, stopping for a few minutes near Ballitore, KD, where small Proctotrypid was taken.
