Climbed Muckanaght in Twelve Bens from East & saw [[underlined]] Thalictrum alpinum, Asplenium viride, Saxifraga groenlandica, Sax. oppositiplia [[/underlined]] & [[underlined]] Cystopteris fragilis &c. [[/underlined]] but no insects. [[line across page]]. 10th Sept. [[insertion]] 1928. [[/insertion]] A moderately fine day; but not much sun. Drove to Clifdon via. Craigamore & returned via Roundstone. Stopped at Craigamore to study [[underlined]] Erica Mackay [[/underlined]] & to collect along shore of lake south of road a mile W. of Craigamore, where along lake shore I took a [[female symbol]] [[underlined]] Thaumatotypus billapsi [[/underlined]] Bdgm. (? associated with ants). [[underlined]] Myrmica scabrinodis [[/underlined]] var. [[underlined]] sabuleti [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] & [[underlined]] Lasius flavus [[/underlined]] [[virgin female symbol]] brought home. [[line across page]] 11th Sept [[insertion]] 1928. [[/insertion]] A fine day, but misty one 1500 ft. Climbed Muckamaght by following stream from Kylemore, between Diamond Hill & Knockback. Collected lichens for Miss M. C. Knowles & two spp. of ichneumons. One [[strikethrough]] [[male symbol]] Ichneumons [[/strikethrough]] [[underlined]] Chapmias motatorius [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] taken by the river at about 500 ft. alt [[insertion]] [[circled]] N. of Bebrack [[/circled]] [[insertion]] and a [[strikethrough]] [[female symbol]] [[/strikethrough]] [[male symbol]] on NW slope of Muckamaght at about 1,100 ft. [[end page]] [[start page]] (233. 12th Sept. 1928. A fine sunny day: little wind. Spent day along S.E. shore of Lough Inagh looking for [[underlined]] Vertigo lilljeborgi [[/underlined]], which found in colony under small stones on damp lake shore just west off new school at Cloonacartan, with the following plant association :- See Journal of Conchology issued in July 1929! Collected [[underlined]] Athalia lineolata [[/underlined]] [[checkmark]] RCLP. [[female symbol]] & a few other insects. [[underlined]] Myrmica scabrinodis [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] - only sp. of ant seen! [[line across page]] 13th Sept. 1928. A fine day but windy & at times dull. Drove home to Dublin; stopped to collect at L. Callow, NG (where no sun!); at Ballinasloe, NG. (Where no sun!); & on roadside W. of Kinnegad, WH. (where very hot sun!) Took some icks. along road W. of Kinnegad, some miles W. of which is a fine esker & old sandpit, well worth visiting in May or July-Aug! [[underlined]] Pimpla brunnea [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] Agree with Schmied's diagnoses but not quite with [[female symbol]] in Brown's coll. [[checkmark]] A. Roman! Three small hymenoptera (1 Bracind, 1 Chalcid & 1 Cynipid) taken in lake drift brought home from L. Callow, NG. Braconid = [[underlined]] Ephadrus validus [[/underlined]] Hal. [[female symbol]]. AWS. 1928.
