October 28, 1911, Saturday.
This morning Theo Rockland and I took the team of ponies and the covered wagon and drove out to the Parnell place. The sky was cloudy and overcast all day and the air was cold and raw threatening snow. There were not many birds moving we drove out about eight and got back into town at six-thirty. Following is a list of birds observed. Nearly all the regular fall migrants had left and the winter birds were coming in. The greater part of the leaves had turned color though some still remained green, It has been cold for several days.
