two men and a large quantity of goods had been left by the barkás. The Indians came and murdered them just as they were coming half naked out of the bath; and then helped themselves to the stores. When the Russians came back they went down to the village and exterminated them with the exception of one squaw who is now at Pastolic. The Indians since then have not visited the fort much and therefore it is now abandoned. The Kolmakoffsky Redoubt for the same reason is also abandoned & the stores & some of the buildings transferred to to the Mission. Leave about nine oclock and sail [smartly?] down the river having some little difficulty in finding the channel but having a Malemut [?] to show us the mouth of the [uphoon?] where we turn off to Pastolic, raining hard all the time and very disagreeable. Everything wet & nasty.
