Morning send Erinnas brother & Mikaishka out after trees to make the fish trap. They cut 4 good ones & return. Make a door for the Peechka & two coal rakes out of some old hooping. Get a loaf of bread from Yagor and a fish from Ivan to feed the men. Have a bad headache at night. Read Lady Audley's Secret, a sensation novel of a very poor class.

Go over to the other side of the river and bring over a load of trees for the fishtrap with the Russian dogs, and Tikpunka. 28° below zero. Day before yesterday the cold weather set in.
