Get a young fellow from Ulukuk to take it, and take the heaviest sled an English one my self. Kurill cuts out a new runner of green spruce, we mend the sled & push on. [[Hamilkars?]] wife & a lot of ukali come along & I buy ten or fifteen. Push and though we do not know it at the time, pass the Russians and camp just beyond the Vesolia Sopka. A strong wind & poorga [line] Wednesday Mar 4 [line] Push on past Ivans barrabora nearly to Beaver Lake and finding an old Indian camp we clean it out & camp there. The weather could hardly be worse. The wind blows the bidarra over two or three times. Poorga of the worst kind & if we were not among the trees it would be impossible to travel.
