Monday April 13

The Indians all leave for Koyoukuk nothing having occurred to break the general tranquility. Yet another large gray owl & an ermine skin from some Indians who probably did the chopping which startled us yesterday night - The Indians call this Owl Nuhl-Tuhl or the heavy walker, it being very awkward except on the wing. 

Tuesday April 14

35 fish in the trap. Mostly suckers and blanket fish. White fish are scarce now. Buy a Koyou Kumsky dog for a fathom of drill + a Mahlemut dog. He is a bright little fellow but rather wild as yet.
