Get a bag of flour from Ivan and make bread for sukaree for the road. Kurill makes an oar for the bidarra and finishes the mast. make a pulley for it. Day cold but clear + fine.
[line] Friday Apr. 24 [line]
Bath today. Bread turns out well make about 60 lbs. When cold we cut it into slices + dry it in the oven till it is perfectly hard. This is what the Russians call sukaree + it is a fair substitute for hard biscuit + bread while travelling. Get a beautiful snow bird, just like those plentiful at home in winter; and skin it. Buy a little meat + a small owl from an Indian just arrived from Koyoukuk. Cold north wind all day.
[line] Saturday Apr. 25 [line]
Do nothing of consequence but dry sukaree all day. Evening Peetka brings a hawk with an egg in the ovary + a lot of Indians with rabbits arrive.
