Sunday July 5, 68
In the morning start to skin birds.  Work all day, skin 8 ducks & two gulls.  Give Ananyan a bottle of spirit.  He has promised me some furs.  Alexie has mended my gun, put a new [[?hammer]] on it.  Day rainy;  tar the boat on one side.  Captain Smith is due on the 12th or thereabouts.  Ananyan gives me 10 sable & 2 otter, at night.

Monday, July 6, 68
Finish my bird skins, work all day over them.  Rainy day.  Boat getting on well.

Tuesday, July 7. 68
Set to work packing up my specimens, get two boxes covered with Maklok skin.  Pack one box nearly full & get another empty box from Stepanoff.  The boat is finished today and they are at work on the sail which is too short.  Sell my bidarra to Bean for 10 dollars in Russian money.  Sell him a shovel & give him some leather &c.  Buy a samovar.

Start very early & make a very long day of it hoping to reach the Mission but in vain chi peet twice;  meet a Russian going to a small village to get a bidarra to help take Milavanoffs goods to the Redoubt.  He gives me some eggs.  We part & I camp near a large bluff at an old village where there are some remarkable graves.  The Indians killed 4 deer & a bear here today.  Get some flowers for my press.

Thursday June 11
Start pretty early, and with a strong current arrive about 10 AM at the Mission.  Hoist the American flag & fire a gun.  The Pope is just about to leave.  His bidarra is loaded and I go up the hill and look over the buildings and take account of the stuff he leaves behind him as somebody may want to buy it and he requested me to do so.
