[[circled]] 30 [[/circled]] 6:20 am. 8525ft. [[Family?]] 3 Blue & Blacks feeding in trees along side of road. Second growth. Open fields all sides. Not associated with any other species. 6:30 am. Considerably further on. See another pair of Blue and Blacks feeding in small tree. Joined by pair of "Yellow-bellies" Then Blue and Blacks move on. "Yellow-bellies" do not follow. These birds were far away; but "Yellow-bellies" appeared to be largely bluish on back & wings!?! Then see [[underlined]] another [[/underlined]] pair of Blue & Blacks alone! 8650 ft. Still another pair of Blue & Blacks feeding alone. In small tree in scrub. Blue & Blacks are certainly enormously abundant up here [[Marginal note in red]]Cy [[/marginal note]] 7:00 am. 8750 ft. Hear presumed Cy singing in distance. Then see single Slate-throat, approx. 40 yds away. Then see pair [[underlined]] cyanocephala [[/underlined]] further on. Then more birds near latter. Including at least one Yellow-face, and a pair of Blue & Blacks [[underlined]]. cyanocephala [[/underlined]] f or j --> Both species tanagers feed on fruits same small tree, but [[underlined]] not [[/underlined]] simultaneously. Similarly both Redstarts flycatch from same tree, but again not simultaneously. This is a patch of wet forest. Both old & young trees. Rather open. Blue & Blacks are [[underlined]] not [[/underlined]] usually conspicuously at the center of this flock. A few feet further on see what may be same pair of Blue & Blacks. Yes! Still followed by [[underlined]] cyanocephalas [[/underlined]]. Then Blue & Blacks fly off. Not followed by [[underlined]] cyanocephalas [[/underlined]]. Land in another tree. There they are supplanted & chased (possibly actually [[underlined]] attacked [[/underlined]]) by "Yellow-belly". Blue & Blacks then fly off in one direction, "Yellow-belly" in another.
