Suddenly appears in tree. Utters lots of Alarm Calls Then disappears again. Possibly it appeared simply because I was nearby.
Leaving 8:35 am
NOTE: The local people call the paramo here "El Mosro".
COMMENT: All my later observations have confirmed my first impression that the sonal behavior of most tanagers, finches, and warblers here is very similar to the corresponding behavior of the same species in the southern part of the Wester Cordillera.
In writing up the results of this whole project, when completed it will not be necessary to distinguish two distinct "regions", i.e. "the southern part of the Western Cordlillera" and the "the northern part of the Western Cordillera" [[underline]] in the discussion of gregariousness and mixed flocks [[/underline]] (although it probably will be necessary to distinguish between these regions in the discussion of Diglossini - see today's notes on mixed diglossini)
The fact that the "non-diglossini" species here behave in much the same ways as on Munchique and in the Farallones is good [[underline]] supporting evidence [[/underline]] that [[underline]] my hypothesis [[/underline]] that gregariousness is causally realted to frontier conditions and accessibility to "island hopping" [[underline]] are correct.
