small trees edge road. 20 ft up. [[underline]] Very [[/underline]] quiet. Only occasional "CN"s. Apparently taking insects off leaves.
[[margin, in green]] 89 [[/margin]]8:29. Just a 100 yds down road. Hear lots of [[underline]] Hemispingus [[/underline]] [[3 green check marks]] or Basileuterus-type Rs and "CN"s in low scrub under tall mature trees.[[margin, in purple]] VI HO [[/margin]] [[margin, in green]] 90 [[/margin]] Unfortunately can't see birds. Then single Yellowbelly [[1 green check mark]] [[written check mark, in green]] 90 [[/written over]] flies into nearby tree. 30 ft up. Silent. Apparently attracted by sounds in scrub. I.E. definitely joining. Yellowbelly only stays a few minutes. [[margin, in red]] Albi [[/margin]] [[margin, in green]]91 [[/margin]] Then disappears. Then a [male gender symbol] [[underlined]] Albi [[/underlined]]suddenly flies out of the scrub from which the sounds are coming. Flits rapidly thru bushes and then disappears also. But sounds continue behind him. I.E. it was not the Albi which was making the noises. Albi probably came only to try to "escort" the [[underline]] Basileuterus [[/underline]] or [[underline]] Hemispingus [[/underline]].
Things in general are really unbelievably quiet today!
9:10 a.m. Back to 8750. Second growth on old slide. See definite mixed flock. Another "mixed Atlapetes" flock. Includes at least 1 [[1 green check mark]] [[in purple]] 1 [[/in purple]] [[margin, in purple]] VII HO[[/margin]] [[margin, in green]] 92 98 [[/margin]][[underlined]]rufinuicha[[/underlined]],1 PL [[1 green check mark]] [[in purple]] 2 [[/purple]] (sic!),1 [[underline]]cyanocephala[[/underline]][[1 green check mark]] [[in purple]] 3 [[/purple]],Yellowface [[1 green check mark]] [[in purple]] 4 [[/purple]].Also others. [[3 green check marks]] [[in purple]]5 [[/purple]] All ranging 2-6 ft up. [[underlined]]rufinuicha [[/underlined]]probably in lead. Yellowface certainly in rear. One of the Atlapetes, probably [[underline]]rufinuicha [[/underline]],uttering lots of "Seeeeeee" Notes. Other birds quiet.
This is almost exactly the same spot where single [[underline]]rufinuicha [[/underline]] was observed uttering lots of"Seeeeeeee" Notes earlier this morning. Probably same individual in flock now. If no, [[underlined]]rufinuicha probably formed the "original nucleus" of the flock[[/underlined]].
Group as a whole very coherent. Passes rapidly uphill.
9:40. Back up just below 8850 ft. Where Albi and Yellowbelly [[margin, in purple]] VIII HO [[/margin]][[margin, in green]] 99[[/margin]] seen earlier. Definitely a mixed flock here now.
