Group eventually moves downhill, further into USF. At one time, a single Big Buthiraupis flew [[underline]] over [[/underline]] the flock. But apparently did [[underline]] not [[/underline]] join it. [[red pencil "21" in margin]] [[red pencil checkmark over "Big"]]
[[margin, in red]] 22 [[/margin]] At another time, a single [[male symbol]] Albi [[red pencil checkmark over "single"]] appeared out of low scrub, 20- [[margin, in red]] Albi [[/margin]] 30 ft away from flock. Silent and alone. Then hops up into tall trees and [[margin, in red]] Ater [[/margin]] bushes, still some distance from flock. [[underline]] Possibly [[/underline]] feeds on clusters yellow [[margin, in red]] VB [[/margin]] flowers, same species favored by Aters and VB's at Finca "Canaan". Then flies away into distant scrub. Although this bird made no overt attempt to join the flock, I think its original emergence from scrub seems to be considered an "intention movement" of escorting.
Cloud coming up 9:20 a.m.
[[margin, in purple]] XI HO [[/margin]] Same flock back at 9:30 a.m. Now going rapidly uphill. Now see that [["154" in green over previous word]] it includes ca. 30 birds. Including one Big [[purple pencil "180" over Big]] Buthiraupis (who [[underline]] does [[/underline]] seem to have joined!) 20-25 ft up in trees, 3 PL Atlapetes, ranging from ground level to 2 ft up; [[underline]] several [[/underline]] Whitestripes, remaining low in scrub; and a larger variety of furnariids, including 3-4 of the dull brown Synallaxis-types.
The birds seen earlier are behaving much as before.
Big Buthiraupis [[underline]] definitely [[/underline]] in lead! Followed by GT's. Followed by [[underline]] Cnemoscopus [[/underline]], followed by the rest.
[[underline]] Atlapetes torquatus [[/underline]] still definitely with flock. (I guess the species [[underline]] must [[/underline]] be allegregarious here). [[underline]] Definitely bringing up the rear. But not associating particularly closely with the PL's!!!
After most of flock has passed, single [[male symbol]] [[purple pencil mark "13" over "male symbol"]] Albi appears, briefly, 2 ft up in scrub, 10 ft away from nearest member of flock. Quite silent. This is certainly same [[male symbol]] Albi seen escorting a few minutes ago (Note: the members of flock nearest to the [[male symbol]] Albi were [[underline]] not [[/underline]] other Dia]] [[red pencil marks in left margin "Albi Sette WCC Cy"]]
