Monday Mar 17 
morning. down to office meet Capt. Hall, get the carpet man & go down to the Merrill which is getting along pleasantly. Back to Edwards and pick out carpet & curtain stuff. Then up to office and work on soundings. Buy some buttons & put on my coat. Evening attend Academy meeting and go home with Stearns.

Tuesday Mar. 18
Morning down to office. Wm. Noyes comes in and I engage him to go with me. Go down to get boots, see Capt. Sands, and go down to vessel. Then up to academy and pack boxes, up to office again, and in P.M. call on Mr. Stebbins

Wednesday Mar. 19
Down to office, go down to vessel & bank. Buy some caps and then back to office. Scammon comes in. Go down to Carmany's & P.O. then back to office & P.M. Call at Capt. Noyes & the Brannans
