Friday Sept 5. 1873
Morning cloudy, wind light, easterly  Go up to the spit to look for the whale reported to have been stranded there but do not find it. Return & go ashore for a little while, all on Wagner & Greenebaum & take the former off to lunch P.M. Go to [[Swinoc?]] Id & erect a new signal but wind rises and we are obliged to return in a hurry. [[Shanfelt?]] off to supper. Evening work over collections.

Saturday Sept. 6
Rains all day, wind lt. SE & E  Work over sketches, bones, plants &c. &c.

Sunday Sept. 7
Morning partly clear. observations for time. Later cloudy with rain squalls, at intervals. Go on the [[Annaknak?]]. P.M. ashore on the spit, natives all drunk. Evening Wagner comes aboard.

Monday Sept. 8
Morning perfectly clear & calm  Observations for time and azimuth soon clouds up and becomes foggy with light easterly wind. P.M. angles from Keystone station. Evening go ashore & call on Wagner
