An attempt was made to bring the star to the approx. centre of the wider slit, but as the star could not be seen in telescope, & a hasty examination does not show it on plate; it seems probable that dec. was moved the wrong way & thus moved the star out of the field, rather than bringing it nearer the centre of the slit.
