SHN's, R's and Flourishes. I am almost certain that these [[underlined]] nigrocristatus [[/underlined]] were in scrub long before the flock arrived - but quiet and hidden. I.E. they suddenly "emerge" only as a hostile reaction (perhaps an intention movement of escorting). In any case, these particular [[underlined]] nigrocristatus certainly do not join and follow the flock. [[/underlined]] (These probably are the same birds seen "with" GT-Spectacled Atlapetes flock yesterday. They probably also behaved the same way yesterday.)

[[left margin, in red]] Sitti [[/left margin]]

The Sittis and [[underlined]] Cnemoscopus [[/underlined]] are picking insects off leaves. [[underlined]] And they show a definite tendency to keep close together. [[/underlined]]

ADDITION: There also is at least 1 [[green checkmark]] [[in purple]] 9 [[/in purple]] PL Atlapetes with this flock. Also high in trees (same levels other birds). Silent.

[[left margin, in red]] Sitti [[/left margin]]

Eventually, the Sittis come rather low. 4 - 10 ft up in tangles of vines base tall tree. And then they begin to dispute among themselves. Probably 1 pair fighting with another. Very noisy.

While Sittis are disputing, I see that there is (are) [[two green checkmarks]] [[in purple]] 10 [[/in purple]] 1 or 2 [[underlined]] Basileuterus [[/underlined]] - types near them. Also fairly low. These certainly are [[underlined]] not [[/underlined]] the "resident" [[underlined]] nigrocristatus [[/underlined]]. Possibly other [[underlined]] nigrocristatus [[underlined]]. But I think more probably something like [[underlined]] luteovirides [[/underlined]].

This group moves on down hill quite rapidly.

Light rain starts 7:15.

7:45 am. [[underlined]] Another mixed flock appears same area. [[/underlined]] Probably includes some [[four green checkmarks]] [[in purple]] 1 2 [[/in purple]] tanager-types high in trees. But I can't identify these.
Activity includes a [[underlined]] lot [[/underlined]] of birds in scrub. And I do identify [[underlined]] some [[/underlined]] of these. 2 [[two green checkmarks]] [[in purple]] 3 [[/in purple]] Plush-capped Finches at least 1 [[green checkmark]] [[in purple]] 4 [[/in purple]] Spectacled Atlapetes, at least 3 [[three green checkmarks]] [[in purple]] 5 [[/in purple]] All-rufous Synallaxis, 2 [[two green checkmarks]] [[in purple]] 6 [[/in purple]] Little Striped Flycatchers, 2 [[two green checkmarks]] [[in purple]] 7 [[/in purple]] Yellowfaces.
